Sweden Speaks Out

Nick Cohen wrote a powerful article for The Spectator recently about what happened to Sweden's foreign minister, Margot Wallström, when she spoke out out about the subjugation of women in Saudi Arabia.

Now as regular readers of the blog site know, Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy backed up by some of the most conservative religious leaders in the world who behave as if women are the property of men, albeit this ugly denial of half of the population's human rights is dressed up as a cultural cum religious difference.

Well, you could say the same about a lot of things, of course, such as slavery, having sex with children, female genital mutilation, intolerance of minority views, death to 'unbelievers' and so on - so just where does it all end.   

But for her courage in speaking out about these issues Sweden and its foreign minister have been threatened and bullied by large parts of the Islamic world and yet we've heard hardly anything about these developments in the UK. 

So I look forward to some wider coverage, perhaps from the BBC, because there are lots of people in this country including many Muslims I'm sure whop would be only to keen to have their say.
