To many people Donald Trump comes across as an alpha male, a snarling bully with a giant ego who objectifies women and takes offence at the slightest hint of criticism.

I don't think the new President has seen much adversity in his life, but we now may be embarking on an experiment that tests President Lincoln's wise words to destruction.

Donald Trump is obsessed with figures and poll ratings except where they don't serve his purpose.

In the statement below Team Trump hails the result of the 2016 presidential election while glossing over the fact that Barack Obama and Bill Clinton both achieved more impressive results with their election victories.

Just as the turnout on inauguration day for Barack Obama back in 2009 dwarfed the numbers that turned up in Washington DC yesterday for Donald's big day.

The other big number that Trump fails to mention is that he actually lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton by 3 million votes (65 to 62 million), unlike his recent Republican predecessors.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer. So here's a list of activities which will help shine a light on what has been going on because as Lord Nolan once said apropos driving up standards in public life - 'daylight is the best disinfectant'.
