Julie Bindel warns to trans zealots after Nottingham City Council were forced to apologise and pay £11,000 in costs after unlawfully cancelling a planned talk on women's rights.

Nottingham is a Labour council - a Labour council - which really ought to be standing up to trans bullies and defending freedom of speech.

I donated to a very good cause yesterday - and I understand that Julie Bindel's crowd funder has already met its target!

Who knows maybe the current Labour leadership will take some inspiration from Neil Kinnock and knock some sense into these numpties at Nottingham Council?

The response has been tremendous, and I am so delighted that this case can go ahead, thanks to you. Any surplus monies left over from the case will go directly to working-class women's organisations in Nottingham, although such cases can be very time consuming and costly. I will keep you posted as to next steps/progress, etc. Thank you so much for all of your support,

Back in 1985 Neil Kinnock showed his mettle by taking on the zealots in Liverpool where the city council had been taken over by ideologues from the Militant Tendency.

Labour zealots in Nottingham could do with the same straight talking about the importance of freedom of speech.

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
