Scotland and the SNP - 'It's not what you know, it's who you know'?

Darren McGarvey, a proud Glaswegian, an important, challenging voice in Scotland's civic/intellectual life, has been 'blackballed' by the toffee-nosed elite running the Edinburgh International Book Festival (EIBF).

And as a reward for this cowardly behaviour John Swinney and his SNP ministers gave festival organisers (including Nicola Sturgeon's former chief of staff, Liz Lloyd) £300,000 of taxpayers' cash.

Unlike Darren, Nicola Sturgeon (still a sitting SNP MSP) has been handed a prime slot by EIBF organisers to promote her own book which is published next week.
