A Plague On Both Their Houses
Despite all the spin no politician comes out of the Covid
inquiry with their reputation enhanced.
Everyone is happy to accept that mistakes were made, but ultimately no one is accountable in the sense of paying any kind of price for what went wrong.
Quite the opposite, in fact.
In Scotland care homes were blamed by politicians and put under police investigation over the death of residents, yet the same politicians were responsible for discharging hospital patients into care homes without testing for Covid.
In truth no one had a clear strategy, but the politicians told the public they knew what they were doing while making it up as they went along.
One thing's for sure - when another pandemic comes along people are not going to accept 'locking down' for weeks on end, a policy which was particularly damaging for school children.
