Scotland, Politics and Religion
What a strange opinion piece by Kenny Farquharson - I don't remember Humza Yousaf's religious beliefs being subjected to the same level of scrutiny or criticism as Kate Forbes.
I'm not religious myself - too many rules and regulations for my liking, but singling out the Free Church of Scotland for special criticism seems a tad hypocritical to me - takes us back to the bad old days when Scots were judged on their religion.
Apparently, it's a sin to become an ex-Muslim under Islamic teaching and any believer who turns their back on Islam to become a non-believer should be shunned and regarded as an 'apostate'.
Sounds rather harsh and punitive - I wonder if Humza Yousaf and other Muslim politicians agree and if so, should this affect how people vote?
Other politicians hold fanciful beliefs such as men being able to self-identify and magically declare themselves to be women by the power of their imaginations - should they too be declared unworthy of holding the highest public office in Scotland?
