Celtic FC are no longer indulging the self-styled 'ultras' from the Green Brigade who have been banned again from Parkhead after two members of the group threatened the club's Head of Safety & Security.

Now this behaviour is unacceptable to the vast majority of Celtic fans and comes on top of a previous incident when the Green Brigade were suspended following a violent assault on a club steward.

The Club wishes to advise Celtic supporters that the suspension of the Green Brigade has been extended. This is due to safety incidents involving the Green Brigade, including direct threats against the Club’s Head of Safety and Security Operations, impacting safety within the Rail Seating Section. This suspension will remain in place until the Club is satisfied that the Green Brigade will engage in the safe operation of the stadium, which is critical for the continued operation of the entire Rail Seating Section. Unfortunately, due to recent safety incidents and developments regarding the Green Brigade, including meetings of the Safety Advisory Group of Glasgow City Council most recently on Friday 28 November, the Club has been left with no option but to: Close the first 6 rows of the front section of the Rail Seating Section at Celtic Park, and Suspend the Green Brigade’s Season Tickets and access to tickets at Celtic Park and away matches. The closure and suspension will remain in place until the Club is satisfied that it can engage with the Green Brigade in the safe operation of the Rail Seating Section in line with the Club’s risk assessments and operations plans, which the Club is reviewing in light of recent conduct. The Club’s email to the Green Brigade is included below. In summary, the Club requires to take this action following recent events: The conduct of the Green Brigade at the match against Falkirk FC when, following an incident in the stadium concourse, around 100 members of the Green Brigade, many of whom took steps to conceal their identity, left the Rail Seating Section and intervened in a violent, threatening and intimidating manner. The Green Brigade has not complied with the suspension applied following that incident. The group attended the home match against Kilmarnock FC. A Safety Advisory Group meeting was called regarding the group’s conduct. The group has not responded to the Club’s request in advance of that meeting to confirm that the group will comply with the suspension and the safety management operation at Celtic Park, including regulations and codes of conduct applicable to the Rail Seating Section. Two members of the Green Brigade, who regularly represent the group at safety/operational meetings with the Club’s staff, approached the Club’s Head of Safety & Security Operations prior to the Club’s AGM and directly threatened him and sought to intimidate him. The safety management of the Rail Seating Section requires the engagement of the supporters in the section in compliance with the regulations and codes of conduct applicable to the Rail Seating Section. The Green Brigade are being asked only to comply with the safety management operation, which is designed for the safety of all supporters. Given the conduct of the group and group members, which directly impacts safety within the Rail Seating Section, the Club is not satisfied that the Green Brigade is engaging with the Club’s safety management of their attendance at Celtic Park. That is particularly so, when threats have been made to Club staff responsible for the safety management of the stadium. These threats are completely unacceptable and a line has been crossed with that development. Following the recent Safety Advisory Group meetings, the Club requires to report to the Safety Advisory Group following each match at Celtic Park regarding safety management of the Rail Seating Section. If the Green Brigade attends a match at Celtic Park during the suspension, this will be taken into account by the Safety Advisory Group in connection with its assessment of the Safety Certificate for Celtic Park, and the entire Rail Seating Section in particular. The Club remains open to engaging with the group when appropriate but cannot accept recent conduct, in particular threats to Club staff. To be clear, this suspension is entirely unrelated to any protests or banners, and is based on the safety issues and violent, threatening and intimidating behaviour outlined above. The Club considers that this approach is proportionate and reasonable while working through this important safety matter and is happy to discuss any aspect of the ongoing issues with supporters or supporter groups. Celtic football club have cracked down and suspended the Green Brigade after a violent assault on a member of staff.

Normal, decent people would have helped to identify and detain the person responsible instead of attacking the police and allowing the person to escape.

Incident within Rail Seating Section at Celtic v Falkirk, Wednesday 29 October 2025 We are writing to you with an update regarding an incident within the Rail Seating Section at Celtic Park at the Celtic v Falkirk match on Wednesday 29 October 2025. You may already be aware of recent communications from the Club to members of the “Green Brigade” who are seated in the Rail Seating Section. For clarity, the Club’s email to the Green Brigade is included at the bottom of this email. In short, as a result of a serious and violent incident which took place at the home game against Falkirk on 29 October, the Club has taken the decision to suspend the Season Tickets of Green Brigade members in the rail seating section. This suspension will apply for the next three home games. The Green Brigade’s access to away tickets will also be suspended during this period. The suspension applies to all Green Brigade members in the rail seating section. The Club has reserved its right to take further action should that be appropriate following further investigation of the incident. The incident in question involved around 100 members of the Green Brigade who were seeking to prevent police officers from arresting an individual who had assaulted a steward. Some of the Green Brigade members actively took steps to hide their identity during the incident to prevent identification of individuals involved. The stewards and police officers who were involved were assaulted in a confined space, verbally abused, threatened and at risk of being trampled. The Club issued a suspended three match ban to the Green Brigade on 31 July 2025 following repeated serious safety and security breaches, including an organised and illegal pyrotechnic display at the last home match of last season. The Club decided to issue a suspended sanction (rather than an immediate ban) with the objective of giving the Green Brigade an opportunity to demonstrate their willingness to cooperate with the Club to ensure the Rail Seating Section is safe and well managed. For that same reason, representatives of the Club met with members of the Green Brigade prior to the start of the season to seek to commence a process of rebuilding a working relationship between the Green Brigade and the Club. There has been regular communication with Green Brigade representatives throughout the season on safety related matters. The incident which took place at the recent Falkirk fixture was unlawful, violent and unsafe. It involved behaviour which was a breach of the Club’s Ground Regulations and the Rail Seating Section Safety Code of Conduct. The Club also has a legal obligation to ensure the safety of supporters’ and persons working at Celtic Park, and part of this is ensuring that the stadium is appropriately stewarded and policed. The Club continues to have a willingness to have an effective and cooperative working relationship with the Green Brigade. However, it will not accept violent or dangerous behaviour within Celtic Park. The Club considers that this approach is proportionate and reasonable while working through this important safety and security matter and is happy to discuss any aspect of the ongoing issues with supporters or supporter groups. Incident at Celtic v Falkirk, Wednesday October 29, 2025 It has come to our attention that an incident occurred in the concourse below the rail seating section at the above match. We have investigated the incident and reviewed the evidence available to us at this time. We have established that:

A steward was assaulted during a routine ticket check at the entry to the front of the rail seating section. Two police officers intervened and attempted to arrest the individual in question. There was then a coordinated and orchestrated action by a large number (around 100) of the Green Brigade to “rescue” that individual. Many of these individuals actively sought to conceal their identity using hoods, scarves and face coverings. This large group verbally abused and assaulted the stewards and police officers in a confined space and at one point there was a risk of one of the officers being pulled to the ground and trampled in amongst the larger group. The physical assault and the level of aggression and abuse directed towards the steward and police officers was such that one of the police officers activated an emergency assistance call. The orchestrated action by the Green Brigade prevented the arrest of the individual in question.

This behaviour is a serious breach of the Ground Regulations, which forbids disorderly, violent, harassing and/or threatening behaviour. Further, the Rail Seating Section Safety Code of Conduct requires supporters to comply with ticket checks and controls and not to conceal their identity within the stadium. The Club also has a legal obligation to ensure the safety of spectators within the Stadium. An essential part of that is ensuring that there is effective stewarding and policing within the stadium. This conduct is unlawful, unsafe and completely unacceptable to Celtic Football Club. On 31 July, 2025, the Club communicated to the Green Brigade that as a result of repeated serious safety and security related breaches by the group of the Club’s policies and protocols, a suspended sanction would be applied such that, if there were any future serious safety and security related breaches of the Club’s policies and protocols by the group, the group’s members will be suspended from attending 3 home matches and access to away matches would also be suspended for the relevant period. It is clear that the incident which occurred on 29 October 2025 at the Falkirk home game was a serious security and safety related breach of the Club’s Ground Regulations and Rail Seating Section Safety Code of Conduct. Accordingly, the Club is enforcing the suspended three home match suspension as per our communication of 31 July 2025. The Green Brigade’s tickets for the rail seating section will be suspended for the following home matches:

Kilmarnock (9 November) Dundee (3 December) Hearts (7 December)

Away tickets will also be suspended for the following matches:

St Mirren (22 November) Feyenoord (27 November) Hibs (30 November)

The Green Brigade members are suspended from attending Celtic Park for these home fixtures and from purchasing tickets or seeking to attend these away fixtures. To be clear, attendance by group members at these matches (home and away) is not permitted and you should not seek to obtain tickets for these matches from any source. Investigations in respect of the incident are ongoing and the Club reserves its position in respect of whether it will take further disciplinary action.
