Glasgow Settlement Offers - Next Steps

Lots of Claimants have been in touch to ask, "What happens next with the Glasgow settlement offers?"

Well, first of all, Claimants have to accept their offers and return the completed paperwork which then requires to be carefully double-checked by A4ES.

The next step is to send all the complete documents off to Glasgow City Council so that payments can be made into Claimants' bank account.

Now this is another mammoth exercise - one which is already underway and we will obviously keep everyone informed about progress in the days ahead.

So that's about all for now other than to say that we have received a huge number of lovely messages from very satisfied Claimants which I'll share on the blog site when I get the chance.

Glasgow - Such A Perfect Day (27/05/19)

Yesterday was such a 'perfect day' in many ways, so I thought I'd to start this one off with the famous Lou Reed number of the same name.

Because it's been a long, hard road since this all started back in 2005 and a lot of water has flowed under the bridge since the fight for equal pay began all those years ago.

During this period my mother (a school cleaner) passed away after a long illness and my younger brother was unexpectedly killed in a tragic motorbike accident while on the journey of a lifetime through South America.

Both events took a big toll, obviously.

But after taking some time out I decided it was important to carry on and finish the fight Stefan Cross and I began when Action 4 Equality Scotland (A4ES) arrived on the scene and challenged the discriminatory pay practices which existed across all 32 Scottish councils.

In terms of equal pay, Glasgow was by far the biggest and so became the last 'dragon' to slay which is why it took so long to win in the courts before reaching a negotiated settlement - because the City Council fought A4ES and the Claimants every step of the way.

So you can imagine how it felt reading yesterday's posts from the many A4ES clients who shared their thoughts and feelings after receiving their long awaited settlement offers.

Absolutely wonderful - perfect, in fact.

Glasgow Settlement Offers (26/05/19)

The A4ES 'server' which manages the records system can apparently deal with 10,000 enquiries at any one time - Karl double checked this only yesterday.

But at the moment over 12,000 people are trying to login to the system which means that for some reasons 'maw, paw and the weans' are all trying to get through.

Lots of people are managing to access their offer details and here are just a few of their comments:

Thanks Stefan Cross well chuffed

So can people please log out of the A4ES records system once they've accessed their offer details, or to put this in Glasgow parlance:

"C'mon and get aff!" - as one reader said.
