North Lanarkshire Update



The Herald reports that the SNP in North Lanarkshire has passed up the opportunity to take control of the Council, as Labour's civil war continues to tear the once proud People's Party apart.

 I can't say I blame them since the Labour councillors who are now abandoning their 'sinking ship' never once stood up and spoke up during the long fight for equal pay.

 So why give them any credibility at this late stage of the game, especially if their real aim is to save their own political necks, as opposed to doing the right thing by their local constituents.

SNP councillors pass up chance to seize control of Labour fiefdom

NATIONALISTS have passed up the chance to seize one of Labour’s most prized councils.

SNP councillors voted against trying to end Labour’s 21-year reign in North Lanarkshire earlier this week, the Herald can reveal.

The decision was described as “disgusting” by some SNP members, who want the party to take over the council ahead of next year’s local elections.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer. So here's a list of activities which will help shine a light on what has been going on because as Lord Nolan once said apropos driving up standards in public life - 'daylight is the best disinfectant'.
