"It's not the party I joined"

The Yorkshire Post and The Herald newspaper both give fresh legs to the ongoing row about anti-Semitism and a general sense of craziness within the Labour Party.

But the most telling comment for me is the one from Alan Johnson, a widely respected MP and former Labour minister who said:

“I am worried about it. It’s not my party, it’s not the party I joined.”

Now Alan Johnson is a former supporter of both Tony Blair and Gordon Brown, but more importantly he's a fully paid up member of the human race.

So his views deserve to be taken very seriously, if you ask me.

Exclusive: It’s not the party I joined says Alan Johnson, as Labour suspends 18 for racism or anti-Semitism

Labour party leader Jeremy Corbyn (centre) and shadow chancellor John McDonnell (fifth left) launch their party's new poster for their election campaign ahead of polling day on Thursday at the Clarence Centre for Enterprise & Innovation in London.

LABOUR have suspended 18 members for racism or anti-Semitism since Jeremy Corbyn was elected last September.

After days of questioning on the scale of anti-Semitic views running through the party, Labour released the figure amid claims Mr Corbyn has done more than any other political leader to clamp down on the issue.

Six of those suspended members were then expelled, and the suspensions include Bradford West MP Naz Shah and former mayor of London Ken Livingstone. Two councillors were also suspended on Wednesday lunchtime in south Wales and Renfrewshire.

Scottish Labour councillor suspended over anti-Semitism claims

Kezia Dugdale has admitted that the anti-Semitism row has damaged her Holyrood campaign

By Daniel Sanderson - The Herald

LABOUR have suspended a senior Renfrewshire councillor after he was drawn into the anti-Semitism row that has engulfed the party.

Terry Kelly, who represents Paisley, will be investigated after it emerged he made a series of comments about the "Jewish lobby" in his long-running online blog.

In one 2010 post, he stated that US vice-president Joe Biden had declined to criticise Israel's actions in Gaza due to the "powerful Jewish lobby" in America. He also compared the Israeli state to the Nazis, speaking of an "Israeli propaganda machine which Joseph Goebbels would have been proud of."
