Bubs and Mandates (16/09/15)

I never get surprised over the double standards of the idiot left tradition in UK politics who see see no contradiction in demanding 'respect' for the democratic mandate won by Jeremy Corbyn after his triumphant victory in Labour's leadership election.

Now the same thing could be said of David Cameron and the Conservatives big win at the 2015 general election, but instead of 'respect' or focusing on how to overturn this result at the ballot box in 2020 the talk of Britain's union bosses (the Bubs) is all about toppling the Conservative government by other means.

Witness the following quote from the leader of the Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS), Mark Serwotka:

“Jeremy Corbyn needs a mass vibrant movement in the country... He needs the six and a half million trade union members to ensure we have that vibrant campaign through strikes, demonstrations, local campaigns, occupations and everything else.”

“Let’s seek co-ordinated strikes and demonstrations in a matter of months to try to topple the government.”

Now the Bubs often talk this way when they are playing to the gallery at the TUC or Labour Party conferences, but they should remember that only 71,546 union members signed up to take part in Labour's leadership contest.

Which equals 1.10% of Mark Serwotka's conscript army of 6.5 million union members whom he is keen so to lead into battle.
