In The Dog House


The trade unions in South Lanarkshire Council are well and truly 'in the dog house' with ordinary members - who are up in arms because of their craven behaviour over equal pay - here's what one such member had to say to me yesterday:

"Hi Mark

I was reading the update against the council, members have a good mind to sue the union from when this case first started to get our monthly union fee's back as they obviously have backed the council managment up all the way and not supported us.

WI"

Now I can absolutely understand where people are coming from and the trade unions certainly have a lot of explaining to do - because in reality they have failed to stand up for their members properly on the biggest single pay issue of modern times - the 1999 Single Status (Equal Pay) Agreement.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
