North Lanarkshire


A number of readers from North Lanarkshire have been in touch to say that the council is preparing to make settlement offers - to claimants in former APT&C groups.

Now this may be correct - certainly the trade unions appear to have been involved in 'secret' discussions with the council - according to local reports.

But so far no hard and fast proposals have been put on the table - as far as anyone can tell - so there's no point in jumping to conclusions.

If and when there are any detailed proposals from North Lanarkshire to settle these outstanding cases - clients will be contacted by Action 4 Equality Scotland with clear advice about what to do next - if anything.

Until that day arrives the best thing to do is to sit tight - because the rumour mill is a notoriously unreliable source of information.

SNP - Conspiracy of Silence

So here's the issue - two Glasgow MSPs (Nicola Sturgeon and Humza Yousaf) have been asked a reasonable question about their use of public money to employ two SNP councillors who already have full-time, salaried jobs as senior elected members of Glasgow City Council.   But these two public servants (both long-serving ministers) refuse to answer, so what to do next? One regular reader suggests raising the matter on the floor of the Scottish Parliament which is a good idea, but requires an MSP who's prepared to put down a written question for Scottish Ministers to answer.
