I've been to lots of anti-racist, anti-fascist protests in my time - mainly ones against the National Front (NF) or the British National Party (BNP).
But fascism these days is not restricted to the usual suspects - to traditional groups on the extreme right of UK politics.
Because there are religious fundamentalists in this country - Islamists mainly - whose terrible intolerance stretches out to anyone who does not share their beliefs - their very narrow interpretation of 'holy scriptures' - or the literal word of God, as they see it of course.
To my mind this kind of religious fundamentalism poses the same threat as political fascism - since it is about imposing a belief system on others who do not share the same views - by the use of violence, including murder if necessary.
Which means that people need to speak up and denounce such behaviour with all the same passion and conviction - that has been used against parties on the extreme right of politics - such as the NF and BNP.
Here's a You Tube clip featuring a youing woman, a former TV presenter - Stacey Dooley - whom I had never heard of before - but she makes a telling point about the Islamists and their apologists in the UK.
