Writing's on the Wall
A regular reader has been in touch because she has received a very interesting response from her local North Lanarkshire councillor.
Who says that he definitely doesn't support the council's foot-dragging tactics - over equal pay.
Nor do lots of his colleagues apparently.
Which is a very interesting development because it suggests that elected members inside the council - are starting to break ranks.
So the present 'our hands are tied' position of the ruling Labour administration - seems to have much less support than the council leaders would have people believe.
All I will say at this stage is that the councillor who has signalled his disapproval - is not a member of the ruling Labour group.
No doubt as this whole issue gathers steam - other elected councillors will speak out and make clear where they stand publicly.
At the moment two local MSPs - Alex Neil and Richard Lyle - have stood up and been counted.
So I would say the writing is definitely on the wall for North Lanarkshire Council - the signs are all there.
The Labour group is being dragged slowly but surely into settling the outstanding claims - which other Scottish councils agreed to settle long ago.
While all the kicking and screaming does the present council leadership no credit - the key thing is to keep up the pressure - in the run up to the local elections in May.
