The Big Yin

Billy Connolly has gone down ever so slightly in my estimation.

I never thought the Big Yin would allow himself to be driven off the stage by a lone heckler.

But more to the point I can't understand why he would let down so many fans - by not coming back out on stage.

Not that I'm unsympathetic to Billy's frustration at some moron - drunk or sober - making a real nuisance of himself.

Who can be bothered with all that nonsense - especially as Connolly has put his wild hell-raising days behind him.

Yet I can't help but feel that walking off on his audience as well as his heckler was not the right answer.

What was the audience expected to do - having paid their hard-earned cash for a ticket - and no doubt looking forward to a great night out?

Maybe a few of them could have got together and ejected the idiot bodily from the venue.

Just like the 'Big Man' and obnoxious young student in the recent 'fare dodging' incident - at Linlithgow Station.

But then again you might get charged by politically correct prosecutors - for taking the law into your own hands.

Which seems a tad unfair when it's some other halfwit - who is causing all the problems and deliberately spoiling things for everyone else.

I think in future the Big Yin should ask for such people to be escorted from the hall - with a minimum of fuss.

After all Connolly's paid his dues and he doesn't deserve to be rolling around in the aisles - metaphorically or otherwise - with some clown who is out to cause trouble.
